Retro watches have an outdated or aged style.

Azimuth Mr Roboto

Azimuth Mr Roboto

Unique watch designs find inspiration in intriguing places. This retro styled watch from Azimuth is inspired by early tin robots made in Japan in the 1950’s.

It cleverly combines stylistic features with its time telling functions to create a nostalgic design reminiscent of those old tin robots.

The left “eye” indicates hours, the right; GMT. The mouth gauge telling you the minutes and seconds. A particularly appealing touch is the crown design in the style of the tin robots key used for winding the toy.

Urwerk UR-CC1 Black Cobra

Urwerk UR-CC1 Black Cobra

The Cobra, of which only 25 were made, looks like a pre-digital AM/FM radio dial or speedo from an American muscle car, but it is anything but retro in function.

The hour indicator “jumps” from one to the next, the minutes turn on a retrograde cylinder, and the seconds spin on a wheel on the top that displays time both digitally and linearly through a photolithographic production process!

This formidable timepiece took three years to perfect and was worth the wait.

Tokidoki Cassette Watch

Tokidoki Cassette Watch

This unusual watch has the charmingly retro look of a cassette tape.
One reel features the timepiece, while the other rotates like a real tape reel.

The stainless steel face has the Tokidoki logo laser-etched at the top, and Tokidoki’s Little Rocker character sits impishly above the face, printed on the leather strap.

Accutron Spaceview: Return of the tuning fork.

Bulova Accutron Spaceview

Bulova Accutron Spaceview

Heres a chance to own an iconic piece of watchmaking history.

As a tribute to the original Bulova Accutron Spaceview tuning fork watch released 50 years ago Bulova (now owned by Citizen) has released this limited anniversary edition of 1000 watches.

You can clearly see the watches electronic heritage from the skeleton view of the circuit board style dial and the double copper coils apparent at the top.
This showcases the unique tuning fork movement, which were precursors to quartz movements.

Back in their heyday these watches were considered the height of modernity and technology, now they are quite retro in appearance.

The size and design closely resemble the original “Spaceview”, the only difference being that the anniversary editions come with a domed Sapphire crystal, alligator strap and hand-assembled movement.
